As we all continue to navigate life during a pandemic, facing restrictions and certain hardships, we also have much to celebrate, as we prepare for a humble, yet meaningful Christmas season.

While our premises are currently closed, our hearts still need to experience the joy and wonder of Christmas that our connection through the body of Christ affords. You are therefore cordially invited to participate in LCA’s annual Christmas Carols, Cookies and Cocoa AND Caring!

Bake some cookies, pull out a holiday sweater, concoct a unique hot chocolate blend, and plan to join us for a great evening of music and fellowship, on Sunday, December 20 at 7:00 PM! On this night, we will gather virtually and spend some quality, festive time rejoicing in the birth of our Saviour, and in simple holiday traditions that add cheer.

Sunday, December 20 at 7:00 PM

Everyone is welcome to attend!

You (and your household) also have the opportunity to participate in several different ways:

  • Would you like to present a Christmas song or musical piece that evening, live or pre-recorded?
  • Would you like to read a Christmas verse or quote, live during the event?
  • Would you be willing to record a Christmas song or musical piece to be shared with residents at a long-term care facility (CHSLD)?

Volunteers are currently not permitted entry in our long-term care homes, significantly reducing staff’s capacity to offer leisure activities. As we celebrate together, technology offers us a great opportunity to share His love and light with others in the community.

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, please email us directly. Dawn or Renée Robitaille will be happy to reach out and connect with you to go over the details of song preparation, Scripture reading, or video recording.

As the date approaches, a Zoom link and collective songbook for the evening will be shared.

If you would like to receive the link and get latest information please subscribe to LCA Church Updates.

We look forward to collaborating and celebrating with you.

Promises That Don’t Change

Following Pastor Rudy Moley’s sermon of September 27, 2020, here are submissions of some of your favourite promises from God. Enjoy and be encouraged!

Submitted by BA:

1 Corinthians 2:9 – However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him.

Submitted by RR:

Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Samuel 2:35 – I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind. I will firmly establish his priestly house, and they will minister before my anointed one always.

Submitted by LG:

2 Timothy 1:7 – For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Submitted by MV:

John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

2 Corinthians 5:1 – For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

Submitted by DD:

Psalm 37:4-5 – Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this:

Submitted by LT:

Nehemiah 8:10B – This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Philippians 1:6 – He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Submitted by HS:

Exodus 14:14 – The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Philippians 4:19 – And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

Submitted by CC:

John 14:14 KJV – If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Malachi 3:10 KJV – Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Submitted by AC:

Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Isaiah 40:31 – But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

Some more verses you submitted:

Proverbs 10:22 – The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.

Psalm 37:25 – I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.

1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 34:17 – The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.

From Pastor Rudy’s Sermon:

Forgiveness of sins

Acts 2:38-3938 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

Romans 10:9 – If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Eternal Life

John 3:15-1615 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 14:1-3 – “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Abundant Life

John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Answered Prayers

1 John 5:14 – This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Grace and Mercy

Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Matthew 11:28-29 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Life Plans

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Philippians 4:19 – And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Renewed Strength

Isaiah 40:29-31 – He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Dear LCA Family and Friends,

Many of you will be aware that the Quebec Government has permitted the reopening of places of worship with numerous restrictions. Therefore, we, as Staff and Leadership, wanted to update you regarding our current plan.

We would all love to be together in person again soon! However, while the Quebec Government has technically allowed reopening, the restrictions on reopening have removed most of the positive aspects of meeting together as compared to worshipping online. We want our worship services to be uplifting and encouraging, not disappointing or frustrating.

Quebec is currently the only province in Canada that has not published a guide for the reopening of places of worship. We are, however, aware of the following restrictions:

  • The maximum number of people allowed is NOT 50, rather the number that can be seated while remaining properly distanced. This number may be up to a maximum of 50 depending on the size of the premises.
  • Entrance and exit should be with separate doors allowing for one-way traffic.
  • Full cleaning of the premises is required after each use.
  • No singing is permitted.
  • Face masks should be worn by all attending.
  • There is no passing of offering plates, communion, connect cards, etc. and no serving of coffee, food or refreshments within the premises.
  • There are no children’s services.

As you can see, this severely restricts our capacity to host ‘normal’ services.

The restrictions mentioned above, alongside the ongoing health concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19, and taking into consideration the feedback we’ve received from church members, have resulted in our decision as a leadership to continue providing our services online at this time.

The church premises will therefore, remain closed for public services during the summer months.

We understand that this may be disappointing for some, however, we believe that it is the correct, godly, and wise decision. The safety of our church family and our community is paramount. We hope that the restrictions will ease and allow for the safe reopening of our church premises in the near future. We hope that in September, we will be able to begin onsite meetings.

We are currently considering some alternative options to gather safely during August. You will receive a survey in the coming days to help us gauge your thoughts and desires on this.

We encourage you to share this message with others in our community and to continue to connect and actively participate in our online services and ministries every Sunday.

On a more positive note, we have been delighted to see how God has used our online services to reach far more people than we can normally physically accommodate on Sunday mornings! We trust that God will continue to use LCA’s online presence and physical services (soon) to reach more people with the good news of Jesus Christ!

Please continue to stand with us in prayer for a rapid and sustained progress in combating this devastating virus.

Thank you all for your support, encouragement, patience and dedication during this unique situation.

Pastor John Ippolito
On behalf of the Staff and Leadership of Laval Christian Assembly
